23 – Heritage Days (2013)

Recognizing the community value of Heritage Days––founded and organized by Kim Vacariu––CRC has been pleased to give financial support to the event, starting about 10 years ago.

CRC Board Members have participated in Heritage Days programs: On September 10, 2011, David Hodges updated the community on the current state of revisions to the Coronado National Forest Plan.

This was the year of the immense Horseshoe 2 Fire, and several presentations dealt with fire ecology, climate change, history of fire in the West, and post-fire rehabilitation in the Chiricahua Mountains.

Noel and Helen Snyder led a raptor walk at Heritage Days 2013, and have spoken there on subjects such as the Mine Fight, which birthed CRC.

At that same Heritage Days 2013, Wynne Brown did a presentation on “Remarkable Women in Chiricahua and Peloncillo History.”

In September 2016 and 2018, CRC once again helped to sponsor and support Heritage Days.

In July 2021, CRC again supported Heritage Days financially, with the hope that this community celebration could return to its established place in the rhythm of our year. The pandemic forced some changes, but we did manage a few steps toward resuming normalcy, including hosting a CRC outreach table.
